Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
🐟 Product & Preparation
What kind of buffalo fish is this? We are proud to offer Razorback Buffalo (Ictiobus bubalus), a high-quality, freshwater fish known for its mild, clean flavor and firm, flaky texture.
Is this buffalo fish wild-caught or farmed? Our Razorback Buffalo is wild-caught from sustainable, managed freshwater sources in natural environments.
How many ribs come in 1 pound? Typically, you can expect 13–15 ribs per pound. Sizes vary as our fish are hand-processed.
How long can I store the fish? Transfer fish immediately to your freezer. It is best used within 6–9 months of purchase.
📦 Shipping & Delivery
How is the fish packaged? We ship in insulated, heavy-duty cooler boxes with frozen gel packs. This creates a "portable refrigerator" environment to maintain safe temperatures during transit.
How is my shipment monitored? We partner with PeriShip, the leaders in perishable logistics. Your package is proactively monitored in real-time by experts to manage weather delays and ensure a smooth delivery.
My fish arrived thawed/soft. Is it safe? Yes. While we ship frozen, our packaging is designed to keep the fish "refrigerator-cold." As long as the fish is cool to the touch, it is perfectly safe to consume or place back in your freezer. If the package is warm to the touch, please contact us immediately.
When do you ship? We ship Monday through Wednesday to ensure your package does not sit in a carrier warehouse over the weekend. Orders placed after Wednesday afternoon typically ship the following Monday.
Is my order insured? Yes. Through InsureShield, shipments are protected against carrier delays. If a logistics error causes your order to arrive at an unsafe temperature, we will reship your order at no charge.
💲 Ordering & Policies
Why is the price higher than local markets? Our price reflects the meticulous hand-deboning process (removing the tiny "Y-bones") and the professional-grade protective packaging required for safe transit.
Can I ship to a P.O. Box? No. Due to the perishable nature of our fish and the need for UPS/FedEx signature-free delivery, we must ship to a physical street address.
Are your facilities certified? Yes. Our processing and fulfillment facilities adhere to all federal and state food safety guidelines and are inspected regularly.
