🐟 Product & Preparation

 

What kind of buffalo fish is this? We are proud to offer Razorback Buffalo (Ictiobus bubalus), a high-quality, freshwater fish known for its mild, clean flavor and firm, flaky texture. It is a delicacy, particularly when processed into ribs.

Is this buffalo fish wild-caught or farmed? Our Razorback Buffalo is wild-caught from sustainable, managed freshwater sources. We believe in providing the highest quality product, which comes from natural environments.

How many ribs come in 1 pound? There is no set number, as our fish are processed by hand and the size of the ribs varies based on the size of the individual fish. Typically, you can expect 13–15 boneless ribs per pound.

How should I prepare the buffalo fish? Our boneless ribs are incredibly versatile! They are fantastic when seasoned and either fried (traditional method), grilled, or pan-seared. 

How long can I store the fish? Our fish is shipped frozen and should be transferred immediately to your freezer .It's best used within 6–9 months of purchase for optimal flavor and quality.

 

📦 Shipping & Delivery

 

How is the fish packaged and kept frozen? We ship all orders from our fulfillment center in Mississippi in insulated, heavy-duty cooler boxes using dry ice and/or frozen gel packs. This ensures the product remains frozen or partially frozen upon arrival.

How long will it take to get my order? To guarantee freshness, we only offer fast, reliable shipping services.

  • For nearby states (1–2 day ground zones): We offer a cheaper UPS Ground option.

  • For all other states (3+ day zones): We only offer 1–3 day express services (UPS 2nd Day Air or Next Day Air).

You will see all available speeds at checkout based on your location.

When do you ship orders? We typically ship orders Monday through Wednesday to avoid having packages sit in carrier warehouses over the weekend, which minimizes the risk of spoilage. Orders placed after Wednesday morning will ship the following Monday.

My fish arrived thawed/soft. Is it safe? Our goal is for the fish to arrive frozen solid.

  • If the fish is cool to the touch and still solid/partially frozen, it is safe to refreeze and consume.

  • If the package is warm or the fish is fully thawed and soft, please DO NOT consume it, and contact us immediately for a replacement or refund.

How can I track my order? Once your order has been processed and shipped, you will receive an email confirmation containing your UPS tracking number. We recommend signing up for text or email updates via the carrier's website for the most accurate delivery estimates.

Can I ship to a P.O. Box? Unfortunately, no. Due to the perishable nature of the product and the need for controlled delivery times, we must ship via UPS to a physical street address.

 

💲 Ordering, Payment, & Policy

 

Why is the price per pound higher than fish at my local market? Our pricing reflects two main factors: 1. The quality and rarity of our unique processing, we are able to debone (take the small bones out of our boneless filets. 2. The inclusion of the mandatory costs for protective packaging (the heavy-duty cooler box and gel packs) needed to ship frozen goods safely across the country.

I see the product is out of stock. When will it be available? We work hard to keep our product stocked. If you see an "Out of Stock" notification, please sign up for the email notification on the product page. You will be the first to know when our next batch is ready to ship!

Can I cancel or change my order after it's placed? We process orders very quickly to meet tight carrier schedules. We can only guarantee cancellations or changes if you contact us within one hour of placing the order. After that window, the order may already be frozen and in transit to the shipping facility.

What payment methods do you accept? We accept all major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Discover) processed securely through Shopify Payments.

Are your processing facilities inspected and certified? Yes, absolutely. Our processing and fulfillment facilities adhere to all federal and state food safety guidelines and are inspected regularly to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness, handling, and quality control.
